QS Showcase - Asia aims to present top Asian universities to the rest of the world and document Asia's progress each year. The year 2009 could be considered the watershed year for higher education in the region, as there was a significant rise in the number of Asian universities ranked in the top 200 of the QS World University Rankings. In 2010, they are expected to continue making marked improvement in quality and challenging the global dominance of the more recognized institutions in the West.

It was against this backdrop that the inaugural edition of QS Showcase - Asia was launched in April 2010 at the 3rd QS WorldClass globalisation seminar in Langkawi, Malaysia. It is also freely available online as an e-book at www.qsworldclass.com/showcase/ebook.php. SHOWCASE-Asia is an idea that meets the need of the time in Asia.

While Asia's leading higher education institutions may increasingly be ‘snapping at the heels’ of their Western counterparts, their peers in American, European, African and Australasian institutions may not know about them and their academic achievements, research breakthroughs, citation levels, innovations and international expansion. QS Asia recognizes this need and intends to fill it with QS Showcase - Asia in high-quality print and online as an e-book.

For the 2011 edition, we are planning an even bigger and better publication that reflects the relentless growth in Asia’s higher education. Under SHOWCASE-Asia’s spotlight, Asian universities can be expected to grow even further in future.
